Dr. Alan Rendle
Dr. Rendle graduated with a B.D. From Northwest Baptist Theological College and a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. He then worked for over 20 years as a psychologist in the community mental health field at four different mental health centers in Prince Rupert, Maple Ridge, Salmon Arm, and Saanich. While at Maple Ridge he spent part of the time as Director of the mental health centre which had over 20 full and part time staff.
He then worked for the Vancouver Island Health Authority for five years at their Urgent Short Term Assessment and Treatment Centre. After this he decided to retire from full time work but has continued to work part time at Central Counselling Centre which he helped to develop and organize.
Throughout the years Dr. Rendle has also helped to develop and has served on a number of community boards and committees that have provided mental health services. He has presented numerous workshops to both professional mental health staff and lay counsellors. He has supervised the practicums of numerous M.A and Ph.D students from Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, University of Chicago, Adlerian School of Psychology and Gonzaga University in Washington. He was the co-supervisor of an M.A thesis in the counselling department at SFU. He taught an M.A Abnormal Psychology course at Uganda Christian University in Africa.
Dr. Rendle has specialized mostly in Cognitive Behavior Therapy in treating anxiety disorders, trauma, depression, stress related problems and anger control problems. The type of Cognitive Behavior Therapy he has concentrated on is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. He incorporates Christian principles for those clients who wish for it.
Dr. Rendle is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of B.C. Reg # 367, a member of the Canadian Register of Mental Health Service Providers in Psychology, the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards – Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology, and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies.
